When I started to speak to single people and researched about finding a suitable partner in the 21st Century ‘Western World’, there seemed to be a common theme in that many individuals found it increasingly difficult to find that perfect ‘match’. Modern lifestyles and the fast pace of life often meant that many highly eligible singletons had professional and financial success, but at the expense of forsaking their personal lives.

It became obvious to me that many successful professional and business people were so engrossed in their careers, and were time poor to meet a suitable partner. Of course many had an active social life, but romance was hard to find. The traditional Asian way of the ‘arranged marriage’ certainly didn’t appeal to these people and this system had mostly fallen out of favour with the younger generation in particular. The parents and relatives of these singletons would have been very active in finding a match for them in times gone by, but they too are finding this task very difficult as the expectations, criteria and independence of the new generation means that the ‘net’ has to be set far wider, which for many is not possible. We live in a Global multi-cultural world and finding that life partner can sometimes feel like looking for a needle in a haystack!

It was clear to me that dating sites lacked the personal touch and many people felt considerable discomfort with them, with the individuals posting on them largely anonymous and not vetted. In particular many women have safety concerns with them , with plenty of negative stories around these sites.
